Boma, meaning “home” and Halisi, meaning “authentic”, was established in 2021 by Ken and Sekai Dachi. Originally from Kenya, they chose the Swahili name to capture their desire to main stream sub-Saharan African cuisine in the diverse Australian culture where the cuisine remains significantly underrepresented.
With a commitment to authenticity in flavour and variety, Boma Halisi was a pioneer in showcasing sub-Saharan African in one of Australia’s largest music festivals – WOMADelaide. As such, Boma Halisi seeks to present its unique, finger licking cuisine to across Australia through collaborations with restaurants, festivals and events, and private home-based functions. 🇰🇪
